Congratulations on earning Life Scout!
Eagle Project
"The Eagle Scout Service Project, is the opportunity for a Scout to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of their community. This is the culmination of the Scout's leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his or her part. The project must benefit an organization other than the B.S.A., and it cannot be performed for an individual or a business or be commercial in nature". *

Some project suggestions can be found Here.
You can do your eagle project at any point after you have earned life rank.
The next step to Eagle Scout rank is a big one with many challenges. One of the biggest challenges is the Eagle Scout project and managing the project booklet. We highly recommend that you start by downloading the Eagle Project booklet and reading it all the way through.
There is a message for parents on page 4-5.
It is preferred that you fill out the workbook on a computer. This will allow you to use functions that include expandable text boxes and the ability to insert images in JPEG, GIF, TIF, and PNG formats.
You must use Adobe Acrobat to enter the data. Do not use Preview on the Mac. It will not save properly.
Back up your work to a flash drive or some other storage device
In addition to backing up work, I strongly recommend keeping a hard copy (paper copy) of all work as this can be scanned if something were to happen to the electronic files.
The Booklet is broken down in 3 parts
Part 1 Project Proposal-In this section you will plan your proposal. You should reach out to your beneficiary as a part of this process.
The project proposal must be approved and signed by the
Project Beneficiary
Scoutmaster
Troop Committee Chair
You cannot start any part of your project without prior approval. Contact information for page 1-6 can be found under Eagle Scout forms below.
Fundraising Form-Scroll down to the next part and fill out the fundraising form.
This form needs the following signatures
Project Beneficiary
Unit Leader (Scoutmaster)
Send Part 1 and Fundraising form to Council for signatures and approval.
This can be email, mail or dropped off in person at the Council Office.
Part 2-Project Plan-This helps organize before the project.
In addition to the initial Project Proposal and final Project Report, you need to keep track of specific project details in the Project Plan.
These include specific supply purchases, labor needs, and any changes to the work you initially proposed.
Start the Project-This a various amount of time depending on the size and scope.
Take lots of photos once you get approval and start working on your project. It's a great way to document your progress and the photos come in handy when you present your project to others after completion.
It is strongly recommended that you start a spreadsheet to document all of the time that you, and others, spend on your Eagle Scout project. This includes all work with the booklet and the time spent communicating with the representatives for your project beneficiary.
It is important that you take ownership of your project and show leadership as you work to complete it. You are essentially a project manager.
Part 3-Project Report
After you have completed your project you will need to get signatures from the Beneficiary and Unit Leader (Scoutmaster) on page 4-4. The entire booklet will need to be submitted with the Eagle Scout application.
You can add additional support materials at the end. Pictures of the project help show your work.
After the project is over remember any proceeds you raise over the amount get donated to the beneficiary.
Schedule a Scoutmaster Conference
As all for all rank advancement don't forget to schedule a Scoutmaster Conference.
You will need this date for the Eagle application.
Eagle Application
Download the Eagle Application
The easiest way to do it is to have Scoutbook generate the application. Go here for instructions.
You will need to choose 6 references for your application for requirement 2. Let them know that your are using them and to expect a form that they will need to fill out and return. Council will not schedule a board of review until 4 references are returned.
Requirement 7 it states to prepare and attach to your Eagle Scout Rank Application a statement of your ambitions and life purpose and a listing of positions held in your religious institution, school, camp, community, or other organizations, during which you demonstrated leadership skills. Include honors and awards received during this service.
Turn in Application and Workbook
Send an Electronic copy of the Application and Workbook to the Eagle Coordinator.
Send a Hard Copy of the Application and Workbook to the Council Office. Check with the Scoutmaster to see if someone is going to the office.
Schedule Board of Review
Once the references are returned the council they will schedule a review.
The Board of review is not a test. Its a review of your experience in scouts, future, and eagle project.
There are lots of great resources online to prepare. Try several of them, they all have great but different questions.
Its not about memorizing facts but the questions online will get you thinking in the right direction in order to easily answer the questions.
You will most likely be asked about your ambitions statement.
It would be helpful to be sure to be prepared to tell how you live all points of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
